Website design for Counselling Practices

Counselling website design

About The Project

The counselling and wellbeing company, based in County Durham, had been successfully supporting clients for years, but their existing self-built website no longer reflected their professionalism or growing service offerings. While functional, self-built websites often lack the refined design, user experience, and advanced features needed to stand out in a competitive field. To address this, we created a fully bespoke website using WordPress, offering a clean, modern, and easy-to-navigate platform that effectively showcases their counselling services and retreats.

The new design ensures the site is responsive, user-friendly, and optimised for search engines, helping the practice connect with more clients in need of support. By upgrading their online presence, we provided the tools they needed to represent their expertise and attract a broader audience.

Incorporating an Integrated Event Booking System

One of the standout features of the new website is the integration of a user-friendly event booking system. This system was specifically designed to streamline the registration process for the day-long retreats and wellbeing workshops offered by the practice. Clients can now easily browse upcoming events, check availability, and book their spots directly through the website, providing a seamless user experience.

By automating event management, the practice saves time and reduces administrative tasks, allowing them to focus more on their clients. The system also enhances the client experience by offering clear, accessible information and a hassle-free booking process.

A Logo Inspired by the Infinity Knot

In addition to building a bespoke website, we designed a logo that reflects the values and mission of the counselling practice. Taking inspiration from the word “infinity,” we incorporated an infinity knot into the design. This symbol serves as a powerful reminder of the eternal nature of the cosmos and the interconnectedness of life—an ideal representation for a counselling and wellbeing service.

The logo’s simplicity and elegance align perfectly with the practice’s calming, supportive ethos while creating a recognisable brand identity. Combined with the clean and modern website design, the new branding ensures a cohesive, professional appearance that builds trust with potential clients.

Client Review

From the practice owner

Ben at Wingnut Websites has done a fantastic job of designing my new website, creating a booking system and doing on and off page SEO. Nothing was too much trouble and he also gave some great advice when I was unsure as to some decisions during the process. The communication from him was good - I was always able to get hold of him and he always replied swiftly. Very happy with the finished product. I would not hesitate to recommend Wingnut Websites.

What you need to know

If you already have a logo and the content (words and pictures) to go on your new counselling practice website, it will take approximately two weeks to build. A new logo will take about a week if starting from scratch and would need to be done first, as this provides the colours that will be used on your website.  We often find that writing the words to go on a counselling practice website often take longer than expected but we would provide guidance on this.

Technically speaking you don’t need a logo for a counselling practice website.  That said, a professionally designed logo looks fab on a website and can really help you look credible.  We can help create you a new look with our logo design service.

We’ll provide full instructions on how to edit the words and photos on your counselling practice website as part of the build costs.  For major changes, we can provide a very competitive quote.

With over half of all internet browsing and searches done with a mobile phone or tablet, it is vital your counselling practice website works on these devices.  A properly designed counselling practice website should do just that and change its appearance depending on the screen size.  All of our counselling practice websites work on all devices.

Websites are quoted on a basis of how much work needs doing.  A very basic counselling practice website would start at £499. We know we are not the cheapest but strongly believe we provide a solid product, backed up by excellent customer service (see our reviews).

As a full service counselling practice website design company we provide a comprehensive range of hosting solutions for counselling practice business websites.  As well as hosting we can also look after email accounts for your counselling practice.

Photos are key to making your counselling practice website look good. Visitors are more likely to contact you if you have good quality photos. Investing in a photographer will pay dividends in the long run, as well as providing you with photos for any printed material or social media posts.

To get found, your counselling practice website will most likely need to be on the first page of Google or Bing.  This will require your website to have some search engine optimisation carried out on it.  All of our counselling practice websites have the on-page SEO done while being built.  You may need off-page SEO after the website goes live to get the best result.  We can help with that too.

Absolutely, reviews are invaluable for a counselling practice website. They build trust by providing social proof, reassuring potential customers about the quality of your counselling services. Positive reviews can also boost SEO by adding fresh, user-generated content, which helps improve search engine rankings. In a competitive market, showcasing authentic feedback can set your site apart, attract more visitors, and ultimately lead to higher conversions.
